Ruth Kelly joins Labour Candidate

RUTH KELLY, Labour’s Secretary of State for Transport, today listened to commuters’ concerns at Ealing Broadway station alongside Labour by-election candidate Virendra Sharma.

Ruth Kelly said: "I am really pleased that Virendra asked me here today so that I could hear what local people want from their transport services. I have been listening very carefully to what they and Virendra have been telling me about transport problems locally."

Virendra Sharma said: "It's great that Ruth agreed to come here today to listen to the views of local commuters. We have seen a lot of improvements on the Piccadilly Line thanks to the Tubelines PPP. But Ealing commuters who use the District and Central Lines haven't seen the same improvements. Many people have complained to me about the way that Metronet are managing the service - and I've asked Ruth Kelly to look into what can be done to speed up improvements to the District and Central lines. We are entitled to a decent service and at the moment it's just not good enough.”
